From Lisbon to Istanbul on a bicycle with no training
More than 13000km on an old mountain bike, with minimal budget and zero preparation
In 2016 I embarked on a solo, self-supported, bicycle adventure from Lisbon to Istanbul.
The objectives of this adventure were:
- Researching how trading and migration has influenced substainance food across cultures facing the Mediterranean
- Demonstrate it is possible to complete a solo adventure with a limited budget and no training
Quick facts
- +12233 km (the odometer was installed about 700km after departure, so the actual distance I covered was a bit more than 13000km)
- 187 days
- 14 countries
- No training
- Unsupported
- Old, 90's MTB
- Stealth camping
- 5€ daily budget
